Dan Aaron Silvestain

June 11, 1939- September 23, 2019

Dan was born in Houston, Texas to Sydney Alexander and Mary Ella Silvestain, along with his siblings, Max, Edward, and Carole Jo. He served in the Airforce from 1956 to 1958. In 1959, upon his return, he was married to his childhood sweetheart, Carol Ann. They had met years before when he was 15 and she was 13. It was love at first sight and they were inseparable from that moment on. Together they raised three loving children: Mark, Vicki, and Dan. He was the proud grandfather of twelve grandchildren: Chase, Sarah, Matthew, Kevin, Kayla, Tazman, Jennie, Vely, Hanny, Nelly, Rae, and Camilo.

Dan never failed to let those close to him know how he felt towards them. Knowing the preciousness of the time he had, he chose not to leave anyone doubting his love for them. He gave to others whenever he got the chance, doing whatever was in his power to help family and friends alike. Dan never met a stranger and quickly made friends wherever he went. He was well-loved for his warm and welcoming personality, his genuine kindness, and his ability to entertain with stories and jokes.

Dan had his first heart-attack at age 34 and struggled with health issues for the rest of his life. Despite his struggles, he always managed to come back stronger than before. He attributed this resiliency to his love for life. He always took the time to indulge in life’s pleasures, big and small, but most of all, Dan valued the company of his family and friends and spent every moment possible with them.

Dan was preceded in death last year by his loving daughter, Vicki. There is no doubt that they will be reunited in the afterlife. As for everyone else, he will be sorely missed.

A Graveside Funeral Service will be held 11:00am, Thursday, September 26, 2019; at Emanu El Memorial Park, 8341 Bissonnet Street, Houston, TX 77074. Rabbis Josh Fixler and Roy A. Walter will officiate.
