Ronald Lee Suchart passed away on Monday, Oct. 30, 2017, at the age of 86. He was born in St. Louis to Edward and Thelma Suchart and moved to Houston in 1959, but had many adventures before then.
Voted best athlete in his high school, he played minor league baseball in the St. Louis Cardinals organization. He earned a business degree at Washington University in St. Louis and served as a second lieutenant in the US Air Force in Korea.
Ron followed a friend to Houston and was set up on a blind date with Joan Levine. He proposed four dates later, and Joan survives him after 56 years of marriage.
Ron joined and then ran the family business, Michael’s Fine Jewelry. He also ran Suchart’s Fine Jewelry with his brother and their wives. He and Joan continued to work side-by-side at Select Fine Jewelers until he retired.
Ron had perfect attendance at the Rotary Club of Memorial-Spring Branch for more than 40 years. He was quiet and kind, and enjoyed a good ballgame — especially his grandsons’ many Little League and school teams.
In addition to Joan, Ron is survived by their daughter Laurie and husband Jeff Rosenberg, daughter Tammy and husband Dan Feldstein and four grandchildren — Jacob and Rachel Rosenberg and Aaron and Ben Feldstein. He also leaves his brother Norm and wife Roz Suchart, and their children, spouses and grandchildren.
The family would like to thank the staff of the Brookdale Galleria and caregivers Onix Hendricks, Willie Wade and Osie Williams for treating Ron with love, respect and dignity.
