Sonia Bloom

On Tuesday September 25, 2018, Sonia Bloom, 86, peacefully passed away.

She had been a resident of Seven Acres Jewish Senior Care for over forty years. Diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis before 1970, she became a resident of Seven Acres in 1977, shortly after their new facility opened on Braeswood.  Through their various therapy programs, she gained the strength and independence to go from bedridden to walking with a walker, and then graduating to a four pronged cane. Seven Acres became her home and she treated it as such.  She was involved with the Residents Club, served on its Board in various positions, secured the Bingo prizes each week, delivered their weekly newspaper, Resident Speaks, participated in Passover Seders and took part in their art and craft program.  She was always grateful and thankful to all the staff and volunteers at Seven Acres. They were part of her family as well. She was well known at Seven Acres, as having had resided there for the longest period of time of any resident.

She is survived by her son, Michael Clairfield and wife Donna; daughter, Rachel Burgan and husband David; her grandchildren, Josh Clairfield, Stephanie Clairfield, Brianna Burgan, Braden Burgan; and great grandchildren Madysen, Caitlin, and Catherine Clairfield.

She was buried at a private service in Beth Yeshurun Cemetery on Allen Parkway.

Memorial contributions may be made to Seven Acres Jewish Senior Care by mail to 6200 N. Braeswood Houston, TX 77074 or online at sevenacres.org.

I was sorry to learn of Sonia’s passing. I am a volunteer at 7 Acres , and I knew her and her son and daughter-in-law. She was a sweet lady. Rest in Peace, Sonia. Shirlee
