In Loving Memory of Ken Odle

Remembering a Life of Adventure, Service, and Love

Ken Odle, who passed away suddenly and unexpectedly on Saturday, September 27, 2025, led a full and fascinating life, much of which was spent in the greater Houston area. Known for his keen intellect and inventive spirit, Ken was a beloved husband, devoted family member, and an esteemed friend to many.

Ken attended public schools in Houston, where he developed the curiosity and work ethic that would shape his later years. He flourished as a student at Colorado College, immersing himself in his studies and laying the foundation for a successful future.

After college, Ken dedicated most of his professional life to the scrap metal industry, where he built a reputation for helping customers locate specific parts not typically found in traditional supply chains. His early career included key roles as an associate with Gulf Metals and later with Commercial Metals Corporation. Ken's most recent professional chapter was as a leader and partner at Steven Levy Enterprises in Houston, where his problem-solving abilities and creative approach set him apart.

Ken was known for his sharp mind and his remarkable ability to tackle challenges that others found daunting. He blended intelligence with creativity to achieve both professional and personal goals, earning the respect and admiration of colleagues and clients alike.

Ken shared a special bond with his wife and soulmate, Jill Linquist Odle. Together, they embarked on countless adventures, traveling to far-flung and exotic destinations to scuba dive, fish, and explore the world. Ken also had a unique passion for flying kites—artfully designed and extravagant creations that brought color to the sky and joy to all who witnessed them.

His creativity extended to the kitchen, where Ken was known as an excellent cook. He delighted his family with imaginative fruit carvings and delicious meals. Barbecue was another of his specialties, and he loved competing in barbecue cook-off events, especially those associated with the Houston Rodeo, where he was an enthusiastic team member.

Ken believed in giving back and served his community in meaningful ways. For many years, he volunteered with the Coast Guard Auxiliary, where he was highly skilled and took great pride in his service. Additionally, Ken dedicated more than 30 years to the Houston Rodeo Committee, contributing his talents and passion to one of the city's most cherished traditions.

Ken is survived by his loving wife, Jill Linquist Odle; his father, Dr. David Odle of Houston; his sister, Lisa Kaufman of Austin and her husband Bob; his sister-in-law, Julie Downs and her husband Tom; and his brother-in-law, Jim Lindquist and his wife Becky. Ken is also survived by his nephews and nieces: Ned Kaufman (Micaela Robinson), Danielle Kaufman (Sam Kamer), David Downs, Emily Smith (Jordan), Jessica Lindquist (Creig), Jennifer Lindquist (Charlie Woods), Jessica Abernathy (Melissa), Kristen Abernathy, Sydne Peters (EJ) and numerous great nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his mother, Steffie Odle.
