Robert (Bob) Alan Greenstone

Robert Alan Greenstone was born on November 24th, 1937 in Rochester, New York to the joy of his loving parents, Dorothy and Don, and his older sister Marge. He grew up on a quiet, shady street of maple trees and homes with grassy backyards overlooked by screened porches and dogs.

Bob became fascinated with automobiles, music, and radios that he tinkered with in his attic-level bedroom. Above his radio shack of a room he installed a large antenna on the roof of his parents’ house so he could listen in on the world and eventually reach out.

Years later, Bob became a star disk jockey at WKNR Keener 13 a very popular Motown radio station in Detroit, Michigan where he spun the records of, met, and introduced so many music greats to raving fans. It was in Detroit that he found the love of his life, Sandra Stollman, who would become his wife on August 10, 1965.

Bob and Sandi moved to Houston, Texas in 1971 where they raised three boys, Brian, Peter, and Andy on a shady street of homes with grassy backyards overlooked by dogs. There, he opened his own audio production studio, Bob Green Productions which won many awards over the years.

Bob loved and adored his wife and children as well as every dog in his life. He sang in the car and to his children at bedtime. His voice was warm and comforting and he was always kind and gentle. He was skilled at drawing characters for his children. Bob was behind the camera of so many family photos. Unseen in the image, we still see what he saw, what was important and interesting to him, the people he loved. Though he never really learned to play the piano there was one soothing incomplete melody he would play on the upright in the living room from time to time.

As the years passed, the children grew up and moved out. The family grew. Bob became a loving grandfather. He and Sandi loved being grandparents and they continued to love each other. They gave so much of themselves. They showed us what true love is.

In 2023 Sandi passed away. Bob was by her side. Though he was heartbroken, he remained a loving father and grandfather until he followed her on January 1st, 2026, surrounded by family.

Bob is survived by his sister, Marge, his children, Brian, Peter, and Andy, their spouses, Jan, Mary, and Sharon, and his grandchildren, Megan, Natalie, and Matthew, and his dog, Febie. And there were those special people who came to help and care for him, who went above and beyond. Thank you Shan for the care and the kindness you gave. Thank you, Tracy, for your help and for giving Febie a loving home.

He will be missed by all who knew and loved him as we did.
