Saundra (Sandy) Seidman, born August 9, 1936, in Rockaway Beach, NY; beloved wife, mother, daughter, sister, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away on November 5, 2014. Her amazing acts of kindness and generous spirit made her a stranger to no one. Sandy served four consecutive terms as President of the Volunteer Guild at Peninsula General Hospital. Her 20+ years as an Activities Director at Brookhaven Beach Nursing Home brought innovative programs and showcased her devotion to the residents there. As a primary fundraiser when St. Mary’s by the Sea Catholic Church burned down, Sandy was in the forefront and widely recognized for her contributions to help rebuild it. Sandy’s staple was chocolate and never had a cup of coffee in her life. She was an artist, a writer and an enthusiast of all of the arts. Her greatest passion was her family and her love for the beach was not far behind. She instilled these loves in her children and they in turn in theirs. We know she will surely be riding the waves in heaven.She is survived by her daughters, Karyn Weed and Hillary Gerhart, her son-in-law, Bob Weed, her three granddaughters, Eryn and Alexa Gerhart and Samantha Weed, her great-granddaughter, Kylie Rae, her sister Sheila and brother-in-law Martin Rankin, her niece Jill and her husband Steve Christiansen, their three children Michael, Andrew and Emily Christiansen, nephew Jeffrey Rankin and many extended family members and friends.A funeral to honor the life and memory of Sandy was held at Woodlawn Cemetery, 1015 Antoine Dr, Houston, Texas, 77055, on Friday, November 7, 2014 at 1:30 p.m. Rabbi Annie Belford officiated.In lieu of flowers, donations to honor Sandy’s memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association (www.alz.org).Watch the video of the Funeral / Memorial Service here.
